What unique talents does Jennifer bring as a Yoga and Meditation Teacher?
As an experienced psychotherapist, Jennifer brings genuine care and insight into the psychological underpinnings of mental health and emotional well-being. Her intuitive ability to get underneath the surface while going with the flow creates a welcoming space for all who attend her classes. Instead of following a script or moving through strict poses, Jennifer's gentle and customizable approach allows each person's energy to help inform each class she teaches. Yoga and meditation begin in the present moment, and in the present moment is where Jennifer's classes begin. A time for pause and reflection, for stillness and healing movements. An opportunity to learn strategies that can be practiced at work and at home, both on and off the mat and cushion.

What types of classes does Jennifer provide?
The following key areas are commonly requested topics that Jennifer threads throughout her Yoga Classes and Guided Meditations:

MINDFULNESS FOR STRESS REDUCTION
Mindfulness is cultivated by intentionally paying attention non-judgmentally to the present moment. As a practice, mindfulness can help shift our mindset and nudge us to see opportunity where we once felt stressed and overwhelmed. We can do this in a single breath. In this class Jennifer introduces approaches to stress reduction that can be incorporated into our daily lives. Together we explore simple practices such as breath extension, walking meditation, mindful eating, and progressive body relaxation. As we develop a steady sense of calm, we are better able to stay grounded and in touch with a gentler perspective when stressful events arise.

CONNECTION AND COMMUNICATION
We are relational beings. Whether we are in relationship with our loved ones or our colleagues, communication is key. When we feel connected within ourselves and with others, our communication can flow more easily. When we feel disconnected from ourselves and from others, our relationships suffer. Mindful practices such as yoga and meditation can enhance the art of communication. Navigating the perils and frustrations of miscommunication by learning how to listen and respond mindfully is possible through conscious connection. In this class Jennifer teaches techniques such as breathwork, Shenpa and Tonglen in a way that is understandable to help foster harmonious communication at home and in the workplace. Together we explore the value of a compassionate inner dialogue and the willingness to see things from another's perspective.

BALANCE
Cultivating balance is not something we can maintain on a permanent basis as life is in a constant motion. Too much past and too much future can spiral us upward into anxiety and downward into depression. By connecting seemingly separate aspects of ourselves, namely, mind and body, we deepen our sense of peace and alignment. It is from this calm space that we can better discern where we may be feeling depleted and where we are overwhelmed. This class helps us become reacquainted with our higher self - the part of us that instinctually comforts and guides us. Through simple breathing techniques and body scan practices, Jennifer helps deepen our understanding of the inner workings of the mind and the subtle energies within the body. Witnessing the mind and body in this way helps restore a lost importance - self-awareness. As awareness increases, so too does our ability to come home to ourselves and navigate the flow of life.

MINDFUL LEADERSHIP
Is our definition of a leader outdated? Do we imagine someone who is overworked and undervalued, managing other people who are also overworked and feeling undervalued? If yes, then perhaps it's time to expand our understanding of what it means to be a leader. If we are in a position to influence another human being then we have opportunity to embody mindful leadership, personally and professionally. Through self-care mantras and cognitive shifting exercises, Jennifer helps facilitate a movement towards the practice of equanimity and humility - qualities that help cultivate mindful leadership. When we can respond with evenness of mind and composure in difficult situations, we plant seeds for trust to grow in our relationships. And when we are able to see the interconnections with those around us, we are better able to creatively use our power to uplift and inspire others.
